Three O' Clock - Vermilion
"Neon Telephone" is a bizarre track reminiscent of work Prince did around Around The World In A Day and Parade. In the track, Prince uses a common theme surrounding a telephone. In this case, the "neon telephone" refers to the telephone shown in the movie Under The Cherry Moon, which was the inspiration for the song. 3 O'Clock are well suited for the strange track, which is composed around a bouncy bass line. Interestingly, Prince originally offered the track to 1980's Minneapolis-based hit group The Jets, but they were not interest in it.
