Section Notes

The Written For Others section is the bulk of The Royal Court area. It is organized by the artist and album the song O{+^ or Prince wrote appeared on.

Section Media

Album cover pictures can be blown up, approximately twice the size of the thumbnail, by clicking on the image.

All .mp3 sound samples contained in this section are recorded at radio quality stereo sound to insure that they are adequate, yet not suitable for rebroadcast. The clips themselves are between 15 and 20 seconds in length and average 160 kb of space. Samples of current projects are not included as doing such may interfere with the marketing strategies of those involved.

Lyrics for songs are available by clicking on the "lyric" link. These lyrics are copied directly from the books published along with releases. In limited cases, major mistakes in the published lyrics were silently corrected. However, some releases do not contain lyrics and were, thus, fully transcribed. We have noted instances where this was done and would also wish to indicate that there may be factual errors in these cases. Lyrics for current projects are not included for the same reasons as sound files.

Availability of Recordings

The Vault does not sell copies of recordings contained in this section. Although most are out-of-print and difficult to locate, some are still available at record stores. The harder to find albums can often be found in collectors circles or record shows.

Almost all of the recordings in the Songs Written For Others section are now available on compact disc. The only efforts not available on compact disc are Mazaratti's self-title debut; AC, performed by Andre Cymone; Ren Woods scarce first pressing of Azz Izz; the Krush Groove soundtrack and several non-album B-sides released by The Time and Madhouse.

Until recently, the track "Telepathy," originally released on Deborah Allen's album of the same name, was not available on compact disc. However, the song was finally released in digital format as part of a greatest hits package. Other songs written by O{+^ are easier to find as part of a package, such as the European-only compilation of songs written by the musician titled Symbolism. Another example is Sheena Easton's greatest hits, which contains several difficult to find songs.

It is of note that several releases are extremely scarce on compact disc, but do exist. It is estimated that only 250 compact disc pressings of Apollonia 6 exist and a copy Mazarati may even be more difficult in the digital format. Both of these releases were available as special order items in Japan for a limited time. The first pressing of Jevetta Steele's Here It Is, which includes two tracks not found on the later release, is extremely hard to locate as it was only widely available in France. Other hard to find titles on compact disc include both Madhouse releases, Jill Jones, The Family and even Vanity 6.
