Title: "The Artist To Perform Tomorrow"
Written By: Staff
The Artist Formerly Known as Prince will perform tomorrow at the Cleveland State University Convocation Center, his Minneapolis-based management team announced yesterday.
The surprise show is a continuation of Prince's 25-city " Love 4 One Another Charities" tour, which was cut short after 10 dates earlier this year because of problems with scalping.
Tickets, $40, go on sale at noon today at the CSU box office and Ticketmaster locations, or by calling 241-5555 (Cleveland) or (330) 945-9400 (Akron).
To thwart scalpers, the tickets will be sold on a voucher system. Ticket buyers will be given a receipt and voucher at point of purchase. They will then be required to show the papers and a photo ID at the CSU box office on the night of the show to pick up their tickets.
Fans who buy their tickets by credit card over the phone through Ticketmaster must present their credit card and photo ID at the box office to pick up their tickets.
About 5,000 tickets will be available for the scaled-down arena show, which is being presented in the Convocation Center's smaller "theater" setup. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Prince's " Love 4 One Another Charities."
Showtime is 8 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The Artist, as Prince now calls himself, released a 3-CD, 36-song collection of new music called "Emancipation" late last year. He was in Cleveland May 6 to induct George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
