Title: "A Prince Among Boosters Of Schools"
Written By: Staff

Principal Prince? Or is it the school marm once known as a rock star?

The formerly interview-shy artist known as Prince said at a news conference Tuesday that he's bought land in his hometown of Minneapolis to build a school.

Because of his own bad experiences in school, the musician said he wanted to be a part of providing a better education for youngsters.

''I didn't learn much in school that I can use now -- numbers and that's it,'' he said. ''The first time I was introduced to black history I saw black people hung on a tree.

''I think that's wrong and I'd like to see that changed,'' he said.

Money for the project comes from his Love 4 One Another charity, spokeswoman Frances Pennington said. The school is a few years away from being built and it's not clear yet who will be invited to attend, she said.
