THE ARTIST FORMERLY KNOWN AS PRINCE has announced that he will relaunch his career with a mammoth three-disc album called EMANCIPATION. Prince previewed the album to an invited audience at his Paisley Park Studios in Minneapolis on Tuesday. He played a selection of a dozen songs to the 35 people present, then said, "This is my most important record. I'm free and my music is free." Our spies noticed that Prince, dressed in a garish orange suit, chose not to sport the world `Slave' that had been penciled on his cheek for public appearances during his battle with WARNER BROS. The prolific rocker had been furious that Warner Bros, the label for which he had sold nearly 100 million records since 1978, would not release and promote his music as fast as he could create it. Prince's new CD will be released on his own NPG Records and distributed by EMI. Emancipation is due out on November 19, just months after his last album for Warner Bros CHAOS AND DISORDER. The rocker has said he will start the promotional campaign for the new album with a concert at Paisley Park on November 12 that will be broadcast live on the Internet and available to any TV or radio station that chooses to show it. Way to go TAFKAP!!!
