Break out the purple stuffing: The musician formerly known as Prince is planning to play Detroit on Thanksgiving night. Hot on the heels of a new three-disc album, the Minneapolis funk-rocker and his band will drop into town for a midnight show Thursday at the State Theatre. It'll be his first Detroit show since 1993. Tickets, general admission only, will cost about $25. About 3,000 tickets will be available and go on sale Wednesday. Details will be announced Monday. The musician has long considered Detroit a stronghold. In 1986, he told local promoters that he thinks of the city as a "second hometown." A video crew will shoot footage at the Thursday show, part of a four-city jaunt that includes small venues in Chicago, Washington and Atlanta. A world tour is expected to start in April, visiting about 200 cities, including Detroit. The former Prince's new album, "Emancipation," hit stores Tuesday to much fanfare. It's his first release since his exit from the Warner Brothers label, where he often clashed with executives. Based on early sales reports, the album will likely top national and local charts for this week, unusual for a triple album.
