Title: "Golly: It’s A Prince Of A Night On Music Channels MTV & VH1"
Written By: David Hinkley

Plagued for the past several years by a divorce form his record company, financial woes at his recording complex and the inability of anyone to pronounce his newly chosen name, the guy most of the world still recognizes as Prince will prove tonight he hasn't lost his touch for promotional hype.

He's also been saying for months that tonight will also prove he hasn't lost his touch for making compelling music.

What happens is that at 12:01 a.m., MTV and sister station VH1 will simultaneously roll out "Betcha by Golly Wow," the first video/single from the P-Man's new triple-CD "Emancipation."

This is his first record for EMI, which signed him after he stormed away from Warner Bros. And yes, the song is indeed the old Sylistics' classic -- one of several remakes on the new record, including Joan Osborne's "One of Us" and the Delfonics' "La La Means I Love You."

Immediately after the video, Prince and his band, New Power Generation, will perform a live half-hour concert of other songs from the new release, including several originals.

And no, that isn't all. MTV will televise "Party at Paisley Park," described as a private affair live from Prince's place in Minneapolis, for the three hours preceding the video premiere. VH1 will pick up live coverage at 11:30. Never let it be said Prince doesn't recognize the value of foreplay.
