Title: Cheers And Jeers Section
Written By: Staff
Jeers to true royalty gone unrecognized. On a recent Today show,
boxing's own sultan of swat George Foreman, currently plugging a
cookbook, graciously barbecued a low-fat burger for Katie Couric, who
hunkered over a grill with the champ in the plaza outside the studio.
Meanwhile, off-camera, that pip-squeak pop star formerly known as Prince
was setting up his equipment for an upcoming segment, and, in the
process, was setting off gales of squeals from passersby. "They're
cheering for you," Katie offered Foreman sweetly, only to receive an
I-don't-think-so shrug from King George. Jeers to trendoid funk
followers who missed their chance to revel in a true legend's presence,
and a Cheer within a Jeer to Foreman's truly princely patience.
