The Artist formerly known as Prince is planning to play Detroit on Jan. 12 or 13, a person in a position to know tells the Free Press' Brian McCollum. Concert details--including ticket prices--won't be available until late today or Saturday, but tickets for a State Theatre show are to go on sale early next week, the source says. Proceeds will go to Love 4 One Another, a chilren's charity founded by the artist, who's playing a similar benefit show Saturday in Minneapolis. You may be skeptical, given that the forme Prince ditched proposed Detroit shows in March and November; but this one's set in stone, said the source. Fans have waited since 1993 for a Motor City perfomance from the elusive star.
