(Former) Prince crowned, a "Simpsons" landmark
FIT FOR A PRINCE: Even as TAFKAP (The Artist Formerly Known as Prince),
ducked his past at a New York concert this weekend (he told fans screaming
for some of his old hits: "Prince is dead"), he did reclaim much of his old
glory. The show got rave reviews from critics who had lately panned him. The
New York Times called it "a riveting, celebratory show that, at just under
two hours, went by all too quickly." The New York Daily News gushed, under
the headline "Reclaiming the Crown," "it freed Prince of all the indulgence,
loopiness and pretension that infect his most recent New York shows....But
this 110-minute performance proved seamless, rhythmically ideal."
